You watch ads on T.V; you watch ads on the internet they just come and go sometimes leaving a good impression, sometimes without any impression and sometimes make you change your T.V channel or switch to another site. An established fact about electronic media’s different productions is that they are transient and short-lived .While Print media’s material (though not has such importance as electronic media these days so far advertisement is concern) is long-lived than the electronic media. Whatever once is printed, it lives as long as it is not destroyed or damaged.

People who reckon print media on decline due to rapid progress in the electronic media are unwisely wise. Print media will thrive no matter how much progress electronic media makes with the passage of time.

Printing is also making rapid progress with every passing day as use of technology has brought a revolution in this field too. The printing process has been going through various revolutionary changes right after the fifteenth century when Johannes Gutenberg invented the printed press till today.

 In today’s world technology has advanced to an extant as a number of digital technologies are available. Usually, a non-digital technique that is known as offset printing is used by the large publishers and the printers this technique is effective for mass printing.  Line printing is another method in which one line is printed at a time. Line printing is considered outdated but it is still used .Line printers are so fast that they can print fifteen pages per minute at an average rate. Daisy wheel printers have a similar function like typewriters. The basic part of the system is a little wheel that has all letters and many other characters engraved on it. This kind of printer gives an exceptionally high quality print but the negative thing is that daisy wheel printer is expensive and it can’t print different fonts or graphics.

The Dot matrix or impact matrix printer runs an ink-soaked ribbon back and forth across a paper continuously. Prints with different colors can also be received by using ribbons of different colors.

Thermal printers work by heating paper selectively to make image appear. Special kind of papers that call thermal paper are required and these papers are quite expensive and colors also limited to one or two.

Inkjet printers are the most widely used by the consumers as they are inexpensive and easy to use and have many functions. Similarly they have the ability to produce high quality color prints besides black and white ones
 
To produce letter-quality text and graphics on plain paper Laser printers are used. Images are formed by a laser scanning .There are seven steps that involve in this process and all of these steps are quite complex. These printers can perform many such tasks as other printers cannot.
