Regarding the paid links, google is going whatever they can to protect their existance. Now the thing is they will try their best to become successful, if they are unsuccessful they will try to find new innovations to improve their algorithm. After they find something webmasters will again find some other way to fool their algorithm. The fight continues to eternity. I guess the webmasters should stop worrying about google. Consider it a separate company and let them do whatever they do. Moreover when you make quality sites and concentrate on getting good traffic , google will do its job perfectly. It will reward your site with traffic
