Blogger.com is good for people who want to put their first step forward into blogging. With recent Google Gears added to Blogger ( ability to add/edit/delete posts offline ) also makes it attractive. But for serious bloggers, wordpress is best It has lots of features and can be easily customized as per one's need.

I usually use Blogger for my personal blog ( sharing some stuff with my school friends , college . in short where I don't care about how many hits I get or how much money I make from it ) and wordpress for my main sites( all sites created to earn money ).

I agree very much so with Kaushal. Blogger is great for newbies just breaking into the blogging scene, but after a while, you'll see why almost all the top blogs use WordPress. There's the ease of customizability, and the open source community. It's also not associated with splogs that little the Blogger system.

The only danger of using free blogging resources like Blogger.com is that you don't control or own your own site. It can be shut down at a moments notice for any reason whatsoever.

It's okay to learn, but why not spend the learning time on something that you will eventually need anyway? Get paid hosting, and learn to fire up an FTP program and learn to install Wordpress. Its just not that difficult, and there are plenty of people around that can help.

In fact, most paid hosting plans have 'Fantastico' script installer - so installing Wordpress is nothing more than a few clicks. If a few clicks are too much work...

There is no free options that are better for you in the long term than having your own hosting package, and putting up your own website. With CMS's such as Wordpress, it's just flat easy. Teenagers are doing it. And in today's educational system, if a kid can do it, adults have no excuse!
