Stumbling brings most of the traffic, I got even 1200 hits from stumbleupon in a day! Besides that digging, submitting to technorati and other social bookmarks also works best, but the thing that matters is the quality of content. Submitting to social bookmarks only works when the topic contains something new, attractive, exciting, and beneficial for people.

Stumble traffic is not good traffic this is what I think.

If you want traffic, write some good articles or tips or ideas or anything that will attract people, make sure you have a good optimization for the blog and also a good navigation (related posts, most popular posts) and the traffic will come. Not instantly but within 1-2 months you will have more than 100 daily. Everything is related to the content

There may be couple of ways to get instant traffic like Stumbles or other social bookmarking sites but I shall prefer original traffic. However it can take a long time but it will be better if I shall have good consistent traffic.

SEO'ing the site and earning traffic from Search Engines is the best option according to me. But, there is a question within me always. What's wrong in earning traffic by banner exchange?

Submit to social bookmarking sites.
Also be adding new and attractive content to your blog, this would increase your blog popularity and traffic.

Content. content, content - develope origianal content - that's the absolute best way to get readers. If you can't generate original content you'll never make it in the blogosphere.

A few suggestions on how to aggregate content....

+ subscribe to RSS feed in readers like bloglines or Yahoo/Goolge reader
+ watch forums like DP, SitePoint, V7, Code4Gold and regurgiate
+ make use of trackbacks to other blogs with similar content
+ build your RSS readership in Feedburner and email readers through Feedblitz
+ comment on prominent blogs even if they have nofollow
+ use pingomatic.com, technorati.com and icerocket
+ submit your articles to recd.us, blogengage.com (the up and coming sites)

n

Nice points, really helps, would like to add more:

+ use Propeller.com, digg.com, stumbleupon.com gives excessive hits
+ exchange blogroll links with relevant blogs/article sites
