What does Google think about Bid Link Directories?

I was wondering what Google thought about bid link directories. If you bid for link positioning could Google possibly frown upon this?

It's almost like buying a link isn't it? I was wondering because I recently launched a bid link directory and was wondering what my members have to worry about?

Bid Link Directory, Page Rank Checker, Link Directory

Does anyone know for a fact if this will negatively affect page rankings?

Google already penalize so many web directories as well as bid directory

Yes this seems to be the general answer around most forums...

I don't know why they would frown upon it seeing the links would be off better quality seeing people are paying money to submit them! They would also have more relevance seeing someone is willing to pay in order to advertise their site.
