Default Is OpenOffice better than MS Office?

A few days back I was able to use OpenOffice on one of my friend's computer and I amazed to use that. I think it is the most beneficial free available application for such purposes. What you think, is it better in free or you shall purchase a MS Office suit?

It is not offensive statement from me but I have noticed many people on many other forums as well like OpenOffice but they don't use it. This is something out of my mind that why people do so.

I'm a great fan of open source applications, but if i compare between MS Office and OpenOffice, provably I'll go for MS Office. Though I know OP is free, offers lot of features, but it's not strong enough to fight against MS Office.

Well give me a break. The fact is open office is free and more powerful than MS office which makes it better options. I am not sure about new releases of the MS office but have you tried to publish PDF(talking about one option only) direct from word document without any additional plugin. I was working for onr of the service centre for MS but now I am SUN admin. So if you look from my view (as I have seen more than user's view), You will find Open Office more user friendly and packed with more features.

for a Web Application i think OpenOffice is really cool ! but for offline use one needs to buy MS Office.. and moreover i dont see people buying genuine versions of MS Office
