Directory submission softwares?

While browsing DP, i saw a thread about purchasing a paid software for submitting directories. I am wondering why someone wants to purchase such softwares even they can get it in free and on the other hand they are useless. Does someone else has used or tried such softwares?

Always prefer to use manual submissions for my all sites as its good for my sites IMO. Never tried any submission softwares.

I am also in the favor but am just asking from people who have used such softwares already.

I have used IBP but prefer also manual submissions.

I use submit suite and its been very efficient for me so im happy with it so far.

Manual submissions is the best ever solution, it's tough to work but results are very effective.
