Question Web Directory: How many link is enough, overload

My questions:
1. Will my web directory be considered overloaded with links and end up as linkyard... link graveyard? How many?
2. If when the day 'overloaded link' comes, should I stop taking links or start spliting my site to several daughter sites?

No reason to be considered an link yard or a link grave yard if all the links work.

Default It's more about quality than quantity

The whole point of a web directory is to get as many good quality links as possible. I think what devalues a link directory more than anything is the number of bad quality links. By bad quality I mean spam links and blatant advertising links from sites that don't really add any value to the web. This is why the top web directories, like DMOZ, have human editors and quality guidelines for them to follow. I think as long as you attain a decent quality of links and they are organized well, so visitors can find the sites relevant to their search, the more site links you have the more value your directory will have for searchers.

why would one worry about link overcrowd? My friend is yearning for links to be submitted to his directory haha

I dont think there is a concept called saturation here.

If you could so much as tell your directory name we shall visit it and tell you if there are too many links. Such blunt questions leave us so fuzzy
