Is it worth buying Directories now?

I have an offer from a friend of mine for 3 directories.Is it worth buying now?As all directories are being penalized by google.

The 3 directories are new ones.So they are not yet penalized by google.

Unfortunately the main purpose of buying links in the directories, is to build back links and hence directories help the listed sites in them, to help in getting better SERPs position.

Directories market is dominating due to several penalties by Google, as directories are so far very much dependent upon Google, so these days we are not seeing quick sales on SitePoint or on other places of directories.

If your friend's 3 directories are not penalized by Google yet, there is no guarantee so those will go smooth in future too.

Also I have lately seen many people trying to sell their old and famous directories.[Do not wish to disclose names here]

Are those people worried about any downfall in directory site business?

Directories are like any other websites. I do not see any problem in buying some as long as you know how to develop, monetize and market them without passing across google's line.

There is no downfall in directory business, below are few points on why I would use a directory.

1. properly indexing in all search engines.
2. will get good number of back links in very less time.
3. It will increase PR of your website as most of the directories are PR3 or more.
4. it will bring traffic to your website.

It is worth buying a directory - the benefit outweighs the downfall.

I am new to this particular Forum but i have to agree with you. I have continued to submit to paid Directories throughout this whole campaighn by Google. In One way Google have helped me out because many directory owners dropped thier prices, including myself. So i have ended up with more traffic but less cost.
