I need a small clarification regarding my directory

I was keeping my directory at the sub directory of linkingpro i.e at http:// linkingpro.org/forum for 3 months till last week. Now I have changed it to the root url http: // linkingpro.org

Will this affect me in any way? If yes, what all ways? Please tell me.....
