How do you create a search engine?

How do you create a search engine? How do they work? Which programming languages do you have to use? I suppose you have to use some kind of database like MySQL besides the programming language(s).

What is a web crawler? What's the difference between a web crawler and a search engine?

Creating a Search Engine is not a child's play it needs Expertise with experience with lotsss of qualified workers and people to manage the troubleshooting so better use some Search Engine Script (I saw one in adwords ads some days back i don't remember which was it) which uses Meta Query results to show up results or better use Google Search Engine through your Adsense account so u can earn some money also..

Web Crawler is a BOT which goes around the web to search anything new any new site & update it's Search Engine results & if u want more information then please Google the keyword Web Crawler u will get everything related to it..

Seems not really easy to make search engine. Just wonder why many people like to do that. We really earn well doing that or what benefit we can have by doing that?

Yeah. Just like zotspot. how they are directly getting benefitted without paid sponsers??
Search engines work cool and in advantageous manner if there is some one backing them up. then what a point for creating new search engine and looking for small sponsors even after that you have to pay for getting userbase??

I think he is asking whether getting listed in Search Engines helps in PR increase to websites.

Just try to interpret their not so clear language usage......

Thanks buddy to interpret it in a some proper sentence. Gibberish in that post really make me sick and I was thinking about that new technique.
