Default Difference Between Marketing and Advertising

The public debate about marketing vs. advertising is filled with mistaken beliefs of their various roles, often seen by the average man in the street as one and the same thing, tricks used by sellers to capture their interest and manipulate them into buying the product or service.

What are your thoughts and views for the subject "Marketing vs. Advertising"

In my view- there is a very thin line of difference between the two.

While advertising is for branding, educating the consumers -

Marketing is to sell your products.

A succeesful business needs both of them.

This is a good description dude. Marketing is that you need to close the product. But advertisement will make the people aware of the product. Only for the first sale, advertising is needed and for the rest of the sales, only marketing is needed.

I think advertising comes under Marketing. I am sure you all have heard of Marketing Mix which consists of four P's: Product, Pricing, Placement, and Promotion.

Advertising comes under promotion. At least this is what I thought.

So say you are marketing!!!. ( advertising also comes inherently )

I'll differentiate them on the basis of time period, i.e. Advertising is a short term phenomenon while Marketing aims to attain long term goals by building relations.

Advertising is part of marketing.

Marketing is not closing the sales, In simple term

(Advertisement + Promotion + Lead generation + Brand Building) - Sales = Marketing

Advertising is part of marketing, marketing is not only advertising but also many factors, such as price, customer relationship and etc.

I wrote a long article on my old ZD blog about the marketing mix.

It refers to the 4 different parts of marketing. I would say advertising is specific to promotion - which is one of the marketing mix
