Email marketing

How many of you people still use email marketing to promote your sites?I still receive spam in my mail box and so there are people still using the technique.

So,my question is how far is this method effective?have anyone tried it?I have seen many people selling email lists for cash in other forums.How far these things will work out?Just an idea from you people would be great.

DoNot buy email lists is my advise. Half of the email adresses on the list will no longer exist. The guys who sell lists rarely update them, they just collect and sell on. Believe me, i have been burned a few times. Make your own list and then you will know that they are genuine.

There was a time when it was very effective but I think we have more sophisticated ways to promote ourselves. This is my very own opinions which can be differed with someone else so please don't be panic(If you feel that I am wrong).
