Thumbs up StumbleUpon Tips… please add yours here too

I recently read a very poor report on a prominent blog, that basically didnt say much about the details on how one can use StumbleUpon to really drive traffic to their website. The writer did claim that he has gotten as many as 300,000 visits per month from his trick of stumbling funny humor photos on the StumbleUpon network - even though humor photos were off topic posts. The article had no real meat in it. As a result, I thought I could share some really good tips and tricks for using StumbleUpon to drive website traffic, and I also invite readers to add in their 2 cents if I have missed anything.

In my opinion, the key to marketing on StumbleUpon is not to get “backlinks” (since they do have a no-follow tag, so you dont get the Google love) ... the point is to get picked up and recognized by some highly influential and power users on StumbleUpon. Once that happens you can be assured that your link or site will get picked up by a large number of users on StumbleUpon and the effect of referral traffic coming in from there will last for a long period of time.

I would like to ask readers of this community to share their experiences with StumbleUpon and any tricks or techniques that you are using on StumbleUPon that is working for you.

I have outlined a few methods on my blog but i am sure there are more out there and I havent been able to cover it all. Have a read at successonline.in - the stumbleupon article link should be on the top, and then please come back here to share your thoughts.

If you could link us to your blogpost, we would be much happier.

Good tips BTW. Users with a lot of fans and visitors generally drive in more traffic to a link when they stumble it.

My stumble sometimes drives in around 1000 visitors and a few stumbles. Does that mean I am a power user?

Problem though is that the traffic converts poorly

Social bookmarking can help a new site to be indexed faster by SEs. Aside from that, it can also drive good traffic and if a sale is made and you get a customer for life it is well worth it!
