Default Promotion Techniques: Are You in the Loop?

Promotion of the product in the market is very important for the success of any product. Companies keep looking for new avenues of advertising and promotion of products. Advancement of technology has resulted in development of new markets and with those new promotion avenues as well. E-commerce has been a big phenomenon as far as emerging markets are concerned. Internet and Credit cards have aided in great increase in online purchasing power.

One of the most successful kinds of online promotion techniques is viral marketing. This promotion technique makes use of the existing social networks. Using self replicating viral processes it brings about brand awareness. Viral promotions may be in the form of interactive flash messages and games, advergames, images and text messages. This form of promotion also depends a lot on the word-of-mouth publicity. Viral marketing makes individuals with high social networking potential a target and aim to create viral messages that appeal to such individuals. This ensures the propagation of the message in the network with more success.

Another way of online promotion is to provide free tools to the internet users. They may vary from simple hard disk manager, MP3 Player, screen saver, password protector to antivirus software.

Offline promotion techniques utilized by most of the marketers of online products are to provide the users with memorabilia, stationeries etc. with the brand logo or name. One of the most widely used too is the mouse pad. This is one thing used by all internet users and most marketers with online products do give free mouse pads with their products. Logo stickers and badges are some of the other products provided for market promotion. Other traditional promotion techniques are still very effective as well. Billboards, jingles and Television ads are also used as much today as a decade ago to promote the products.
