Default SERPS! Do they correlated?

I was thinking about it(may be I have read about it as well somewhere). Do SERPS are correlated? What you think, If you have got a good position in Google then is it possible that you will have an improved position in Yahoo as well? May be I know answer of this question and my answer will be in no but it is just to know your thoughts about it. Share your valuable knowledge about it here.

I have doubt about their co-relation simply because I saw other-wise.

Last January, I took an assignment of building organic links for a site with a particular keyword as anchor-text. The site was ranking #1 on Yahoo, MSN and other SEs for that particular site. But, unfortunately it was no-where on Google ( not even within 1000 that is trackable). The site is now 5 years old and sells furnitures.

The web-master had peculiar demand. He was no hurry - he wanted every-thing to be slow and normal.

During Dec. - the site was #1 briefly on Google for that term ( it came on SERPs after 6 months of me working on it) - and has been on the first page of G for 6/7 terms related to the product which is not much competitive.

So, I think - the co-relation might be just coincidence.

So I am thinking right and there is no connection or Serps are not co-related according to you. I shall like to know comments of other members on board.

Not sure if its relevant but my google serps seem directly correlated to my natural traffic. By that i mean for X% increase in natural traffic i get x% boost in serps ratings. As soon as the natural traffic lowers the serps lower.

Hi Guys,
They are not correlated anyway, every search engine has his own crawler and algorithms for SERPs. If some site is really good w r t contents, freshness, internal linking and back links etc all search engines will place them on top ranking.

Hi ChrisHarry,
I have done a lot of research on it and found that SERPs are not related anyway for all search engines. Every search engine have his own algorithms for same.

SERP are not related in all SE, each SE has different variables to consider, its seems google cares much more about external links to your site when determining SERP for keywords then Yahoo. and like Yahoo SERP are influenced more by content then Google.

After having a search on Internet i have found that there is likely also to be a pretty good correlation between poor SERPs quality and loss of users to other search engines.
