Quality is much more important in SEO.
You can have millions visitors from "nofollow" sites, forums - and no results in SERPs, on the other hand you can have 20 visitors from relevant, quality "dofollow" sites or forums - and have brilliant results.
So, I advice you to work for quality not for quantity...
