Default Paid links & SEO

SERPs is the most important thing that all webmasters strive for. And decent SERPs on Google is only possible by acquiring good number of links.

But all indications lead to the fat that Google is going to dis-allow link value of paid links.

Matt Cutts says- webmasters can buy/sell links without fearing Google as they won't be banned or penalized. But those links would have no SEO value.

Well -there are hundreds of other ways to build links- but the easiest and quickest way is to buy.

The latest Google policy makes it extremely difficult to earn good number of links regularly that would be of SEO value.

So is SEO industry in danger of loosing its charm?

SEO is a niche industry that account of millions of $$ in yearly revenue. There are many people employed in this industry. But most of them are not good at building large number of links organically for hundreds of their clients as organic link-building is a pain-staking exercise that takes huge efforts and time.

I would like to hear about it from fellow members/SEO experts/webmasters.

Google is certainly doing that, and without paid links it would be impossible to rank, being a fan of Google, it is their index and they can choose who to list and who not to list in their index but I am not sure why is it unethical?

well its been a big concern for webmasters, if google kills all paid links it would kill revenues , google click throughs are dying as most are aware about those ads and they would prefer not to click most times, there is huge drop's in revenues.

Certainly agree with that part. I think slowly Google will move away from online add sector and concentrate more on networking. I read a big article about Google contemplating to manage all databases in the world.

No-longer would companies- big or small need to have their own servers to manage their databases. Their employees would just need terminals and enter data. All will be managed by Google.

To some extent we could accept the concept that paid links are illegal. But there are no other short cuts to gain PR. If one cannot get a better PR, how can it be listed in google or yahoo. To gain it naturally one has to work for years which is impossible. So google should stop its actions regarding paid links.

I've learned my lesson to only purchase quality links for my websites and a few at a time. When I first started my sites many years ago I would purchase them in mass quantities and get banned from google
