Default Mobile phone calls fraud!

You sometimes can get calls from a fraud person stating that he is from so and so company .He talks to in tactfull manner ,that even you gets attracted by his offers .Then after some time he may ask you to press some button on your phone and as soon as you do that he can track all the personal details from your phone .
So, please be careful !

How does this work? It sounds rather unlikely... and is it just a bluetooth problem?

It does sound unlikely.. I've gotten cellphone spam before.. I wonder how they get your cellphone number though, did you include it in your WHOIS information?

It is not called phone fraud - these calls are made from a call centre , probably located in India, Pakistan or Bangladesh, this is called outbound calls, they call to sell products, few are legit, but - there is a campaign by the name "TimeShare" which is illegal.

A deep research on "TimeShare" campaign in call centre will answer your query!

Your post is unlikely to happen, the only person that can track all your personal details is the person working in your SIM company.

Not anyone can track your phone only your sim company can do it . But another fraud can be a little diferrent > Here in Romania someone calls a person and he tell him that he won 1000$ then he must get a recharghe coupon from his network ( 10 $ on that coupon) and send him the coupon number ( with that number you can recharghe your sim account ) . A lot of persons have been pushed in this situation and a lot of them sent the coupon number to the attacker. Then the attacker after he got about 2000$ from victims he sold that sim credit on the internet . Of course he has been charged of fraud by the police :P

I too strongly beleive that no one could tract the information from our cell phones except the sim provider. But due to the advancement in science, there are some advancement in the area of theft also through scientific methods. So it is not a long way ahead for this crime to happen.

There is a new cellphone that Samsung is going to launch, it has a tracking device built in it, same tracking device you have in cars. So, you can't really say anything . I think tracking the cellphone and tracking the info in cellphone are two different things.

interesting. I am on the cdma, not gsm network. I also have free incomming phone calls, and there is no sim.. soon the cell phone company I am with will be switching to a new service, with RIM cards, simular to the sim card, but as far as scamming phone calls, there is something here for that, a toll free number, that you can call and have your phone number placed on the list, and that way it stops the "spamers" and also, you can have numbers blocked, from both texting and calling. you can google to find the number, and I wish everyone here good luck..

Well, nothing like this have happened with me, but I have experienced some other kind of mobile fraud (2 times).

A guy called me late right (around 3am) and said that he is talking from the Head office of my mobile's company (telenor) and My mobile number has won the prize of Rs. 50,000 and to get that money I have to call him back so that he can tell me the rest of the process.

I never called him back... I Knew it was a fraud. I complained to the Head office that I am getting these kind of calls from these numbers and after that I am in peace... No more calls
