Default Hostgator is reliable?

Hi friends.I currently have the baby croc plan purchased in hostgator.I thought ill buy a 3 year plan altogether there. Some of my friends are saying that hostgator are over selling and that their servers will become overloaded sometime in the future. Is it possible? Can anybody help me on this one?

Shall I go on long term plan with hostgator,or a short term plan?

Well, it says on their website that they do hosting based on allocation which means if you have a 1,000 mb of space and you assign out 100mb you only have 900mb left to assign.

It is definitely reliable, I have been using for the last 2.5 years, and it's rare chance that we got any problem with them.

There is no chance of overloading, as once I had a chat with LiveSupport there, and they assured that they add up several servers each week, so new users will get space on new servers.

If you can afford upfront payment then you should choose long term plan otherwise monthly plans always great as you don't have to pay upfront amount.

Nice thing to know...I think out there are many big companies but they are reliable only if they invest and work a lot.

You should have someone technical on the backend who is willing to fix any error that occurs or a team should be available 24/7 if a customers calls and ask for help - that is what makes a reliable company.

Hostgator has been an amazing web host throughout the years , and yes they oversell. Most hosts do oversell if on hard drive space. Most hosts will NOT however cram a ton of sites on a server which because of processing power can't handle the load.
