Popular U.S. wireless carrier, ‘Alltel Wireless’ introduced two new mobile phones this week. The “LG Scoop” and the “Samsung Muse” both will be the two in the line up. ‘Alltel Wireless’ also announced the addition of a ‘red BlackBerry Pearl 8130’ to its range of the ‘Smartphone’ lineups on the same occasion.
The ‘LG Scoop’ is a multi-tasking messaging-centric mobile phone with a ‘QWERTY keyboard’ that facilitates easier text input. This mobile device comes with a ‘chat-style instant messaging system’. This specific system will enable the ‘Alltel’ subscribers for using the mobile phone’s preloaded ‘AOL Instant Messenger’ and ‘Yahoo Messenger’. It will facilitate the users to have a chat with others exactly in the manner they would chat with others on a desktop. This mobile phone also supports the ‘Alltel Axcess Voice2TXT’ service that converts incoming voice mails in to text messages keeps them stored ‘text in-box’ of the phone.
‘LG Scoop’ has several other features including a 1.3-megapixel camera, video capabilities, and Bluetooth. The ‘LG Scoop’ is “Celltop-ready mobile device “, according to Alltel. “Celltop”, a newly introduced service exclusively for synchronizing music wirelessly and storing it on the mobile phone from the PC storage, was a collaborative effort of ‘Alltel’ and ‘mSpot’, a mobile application developer.”Celltop’s” technology is based upon the ‘Qualcomm’s Brew uniOne Platform’ Application. This unique platform employs customizable ‘cells’ for serving the text and other content to the subscribers.
Other mobile phone device, the ‘Samsung Muse’ is a music-centric mobile phone offering a dedicated music key for ring tones, XM Radio Mobile, Music Powered by Celltop, and an MP3 player. The clamshell phone also features an improved 2-megapixel camera, video capabilities, stereo Bluetooth, and GPS. GPS feature of the ‘Samsung Muse’ mobile phone is also supported with the ‘Alltel’s Axcess Mobile Guide’, an exclusive navigation application that provides turn-by-turn directions and maps to the subscribers.
Cashing on the opportunity,’ Alltel’ also added wings to its ‘BlackBerry’ lineup and introduced the ‘red BlackBerry Pearl 8130’. It is an advanced “prosumer” Smartphone featuring a 2-megapixel camera, multimedia capabilities, and built-in GPS from the ‘Research In motion (RIM)’.
All the three mobile phone devices will be available to the customers in the first quarter of this year. ‘Alltel’ however, did not disclose the price tags for the two mobile phones from LG and Samsung. Though it announced that the ’ BlackBerry Pearl 8130’ would be having a price tag of $150 with a $100 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract.
