New iPhone’s sale starts in Japan

On Friday, the 3rd Gen iPhone went on sale in the region of Asia-Pacific. After a thirty second countdown with hundreds of chanted people, the new iPhone made its debut in Japan.

In the celebration, at Japanese carrier Softbank Corp. store, a digital clock display over the entrance was also included which was the part of a worldwide rollout in 22 nations of the much-touted 3G iPhone. The new iPhone is a new update version of the model that was introduced last year in the U.S. and many other countries.

The other Asia-Pacific countries that getting the 3rd Gen iPhone are Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong. iPhone will be available at 8am in every time zone in the U.S.

There were smiles all around at the store and when asked, a 28-year-old filmmaker Taichiro Nakamura told by showing off his new iPhone that the first call he made with that iPhone was to his girlfriend.

“I am quite happy to have it, I already had the iPod Touch portable music player and wanted the iPhone too and I now have got one” he further told.

There were around 1,000 people in the queues as the line had been growing   for days. People were quite anguish when the store announced that they were not accepting further applications.

The announcement “how many iPhones will be available is not sure”   fueled the hype about the device.

The iPhone has been designed to browse the Web similarly as a PC can do. The networks carriers like NTT DoCoMo have promoted i-mode that is closer than the Web. It would be easier for the carriers to control services and charge fees with these systems.

A 38-year-old banker Tomohiko Katsu told on that occasion that he had never lined up to buy some product before but that new gadget had forced him to do that as he had been desiring for it for quite a long time.
