Almost every fifth U.S. television viewer is using computer instead of television set to watch primetime programs online. Majority of these people is consisted of educated professional women, a new survey shows.
The survey results indicate that almost 50 percent people viewing TV programs on the Web as they are getting available online. According to Integrated Media Measurement Inc. (IMMI) which conducted that survey, “It seems that soon computer would serve as the biggest substitute for the T.V. set.”
The other 50 percent use the Web to view those programs that they have missed.
“ This is the first study of its kind that tell a considerable number of people are viewing primetime shows on the Internet who can’t watch some episodes of their favorite programs on television,” said Amanda Welsh who is head researchers at IMMI.
The survey showed that most of these online TV viewers were white, well off and well educated professional women aged 25 to 44.
Usually, these women don’t find time to tie themselves down to these live television-viewing schedules. Because of their busy routine they can’t glue to watch these live shows and they prefer to watch their favorite programs online.
More than 3,000 teens in New York, Los Angels, Miami, Chicago, Devour and Houston were recruited by IMMI that also provided them cell phones with special media viewing tracking software to conduct that survey.
