Visiting the amusement park can be a world of fun and wonder, but it can also lead to headaches, sore feet, and nausea. It can get to the point where you don’t even want to go, even though you enjoy the rides. Check out these 4 steps to surviving at amusement park, so you can take to ensure that your trip to the park is an… amusing one.

1. Stay Hydrated

Stay Hydrated at Amusement Park

Many people neglect the need to stay hydrated when visiting an amusement park. They either don’t want to spend money on overpriced drinks or simply don’t take the time to get one, focused on experiencing as much of the park as possible. This mistake can leave you with a pounding headache, heat exhaustion, and a feeling of overall sluggishness.

Even though most places don’t allow for outside food or drinks. Because the cost for one in the park might be higher than your comfortable spending. It’s still important to take the time to find the nearest water fountain at least once every hour.

2. Dress For Comfort

Wear Cool and Comfort Dress

We all like to look nice, it’s just part of human nature. Another aspect of human nature is feeling comfortable, and if you’re going to a hot park all day and you’ve got to pick between the two, you should choose the latter. Not that you have to go to the park dressed in sweat pants and wearing slippers, but it’s important to feel good about yourself. It’s going to be hot, more than likely, so dress accordingly; wear something loose and comfortable.

Sneakers are the best choice of footwear, as they’ll provide support and comfort while staying secure. You don’t want to wear shoes that are going to put a strain on your feet and cause heel spurs or bunions. Otherwise, you’ll need to visit a medical professional, such as Northwest Surgery Center. Anything else you need? Bring a hat and sunglasses if you need to. Just be sure that nothing is going to fly away on a ride and that you’ll be able to store them somewhere safe.

3. Take Breaks

Take Some Rest at Park

It can be hard to take a break when you’re trying to hop between each attraction; you paid good money for admission and don’t want to waste time sitting down when you could be trying another ride, the lines are long enough!

However, setting some time aside to sit in the shade and collect yourself is highly recommended. If you’ve got kids, they may be opposed to stopping. But even sitting down for ten or fifteen minutes can be all the break you need to rejuvenate yourself. Sometimes it’s good to step back and take everything in.

4. Bring Medication

Keep Some Medicine During Trip

Remember when you were able to hop from coaster to coaster without feeling the slightest bit nauseous? Well, those days are over. If you know that riding the “Quadripple Loop of Death” coaster is going to make your stomach upset, it’s not a bad idea to pack some Dramamine.

Know you’re prone to headaches when out in the sun for a long period of time? Stick some Ibuprofen in your purse. Throw some Tums in there, too. It’s better to have the stuff and not need it than to rush to the closest trashcan after riding the Spinning Teacups.

Closing Thoughts

If you’re planning on visiting a theme park anytime soon, be sure to implement these tips and tricks for surviving at amusement park. Whether you’re going alone, with friends, or with your family, each tip can come into play for someone in your group. They just might keep your fun day out from turning into a nightmare of headaches, stress, and cotton candy.
